Introduction
Rational for our project:
Every individual’s body mechanics are unique due to the differences in body segment lengths.
Leonardo Da Vinci proposed that there are some relationships between the different body segments.
Thus, if it is possible to establish a relationship between body segments length of different body parts, it might be possible to estimate the length of a body part using another part of the body.
Our group came across some articles on the relationship between the length of forearm and foot.
Their studies showed that the forearm and foot were of the same length!
However, we are living in an Asian country and the article results might not be applicable to us.
Therefore, there is a need to replicate the research.
If there really is a relationship between the forearm and foot, it would be possible to use forearm length to estimate and tailor make the prosthesis for amputees according to an individual’s specifications.
Of course, these findings may have some commercial value as it helps people to find their shoe size easily by comparing it to their forearm instead of many rounds of trial and error of trying the shoes on themselves.
The Hypothesis:
There is a significant relationship between forearm and foot length.
The Null Hypothesis:
There is no significant relationship between forearm and foot length.
