Reflections

When I was in Japan, many of my clinical educators were still doing their research papers for their doctorate. I finally understand why they had to burn midnight oil through the nights. It is not easy to plan and conduct an experiment, accounting for all sorts of variables and ensuring that the data collected is reliable, valid and consistent. Not to mention analyzing the data using the SPSS program as well. This project has given me a prelude to next year's Final Year Project and I certainly appreciate our statistics lecturer, Ms Chia, for giving us such a wonderful experience and opportunity to work on this project.

After many weeks of hard work, planning and executing, we have finally completed our statistics project! I must admit that the journey wasn't easy. Besides grasping statistics concepts, we had to learn to use a new software tool to analyze our findings. Though it was tough, I'm glad that I have studied statistics for it has given us a glimpse on what we might expect for our Final Year Project next year. Also, I would like to thank our statistics lecturer, Ms Chia, for making an abstract topic simple for us students to learn.

At the end of this project, I recognize the functionality of statistics as well as the convenience of using SPSS. I think that being given the opportunity to plan, execute and analyze an experiment from start to end has been helpful in giving me a better understanding of the process of statistics and this is also a good opportunity to experience what our final year project will be like. To top it off, this experience has been rewarding because it was quite satisfying to obtain a positive correlation between our variables.

Studying Statistics has allowed me to interpret the numbers in our project and allow me to give a holistic understanding to the numbers. It has allowed me to look at them in an objective manner. I believe studying Statistics will help me with my Final Year Project next year. Definitely a very useful subject learned in Year 2. I would like to also thank Mrs Chia for teaching us this subject with so much dedication and passion.

I have learnt a lot from this statistic module. Using the SPSS to help us analyze data was a form of practice. I hope that I can use my knowledge of SPSS now to use it for other projects or go out to work in the future. The idea of using a blog to show our findings was also rather interesting. The course of the project was tedious, but it was a fun experience working with my group members. I am sure this project has benefited all of us.
